Jon has extensive expertise in diagnosing and addressing clients’ ever-changing marketing challenges, working across customer touch points with 12+ years of focus in the digital channels. Jon has worked for the last 18 months as a consultant, coach, advisor and teacher for a variety of organizations.
With client marketing organizations, Jon helps refine and focus their strategy, their data and their talent to grow business in these challenging times. Jon also works as a consultant or advisor to various media publishing and technology companies on everything from informing product development and go-to-market strategy, to helping unlock the power of primary research and improving strategic selling.
In his most recent agency post, Jon served as VP, Director of Connection planning at GreySF where he oversaw an integrated planning team of 30 media professionals and managed more than $150MM in annual planned media spend across traditional and digital channels. As VP, Media Director at Digitas in 2000, Jon oversaw and re-structured all buying and operations to improve the organizations profitability before moving to San Francisco and becoming the company’s first Account Director on the Microsoft business. As Media Director at Y&R’s Brand Dialog in NY, Jon built the organization’s first dedicated digital planning team from the ground up and helped bring Y&R credibly into the digital communications arena between 1998 to 2000.
Jon’s experience has been amassed working with Fortune100/500 clients, including Microsoft, HP, Sony (Consumer Electronics), United Airlines, Dr Peper/7UP, US Army, Accenture, Symantec, Michelin, Oracle, SanDisk, Warner Bro’s and others over his career.
In addition to his consulting work, Jon was thrilled to serve the Bay Area’s digital ad community as President of SFBIG in 2008 and as Chairman of it’s Board of Directors in 2009. He is a faculty member of Upstream Habitat (www.upstreamhabitat.com), focused on developing the next generation of great media sellers, and teaches Media Planning at the Academy of Art University in SF, helping to deliver the next generation of great Account Planners.
